Problem
The task was to make buying medicine online easy. When you or your loved ones are sick the least you want to do is spend a lot of time buying medicines. Online pharmacies provide you everything under one roof, so you don't have to go through the hassle of searching for medicines at different shops as this could be a hassle and time consuming
Problem we solved
-
People couldn't buy products for themselves and loved ones in one place
-
People did not get proper diagnosis of their sickness and self medicated
-
The difficulties in speaking to a doctor without queuing up at a hospital
-
Getting fake over the counter drugs
Solution
We designed an online pharmacy where all kind ( Categories ) of drugs can easily be accessible and purchased.
We also designed strong and easy communication between user and doctors. Do you need a prescription or proper diagnosis to your aliment, our doctors would help you find the right solution all in the comfort of your home.
If you already have a prescription, thats not a problem, A user can send in their prescriptions and get their medications delivered to their preferred location.

Outcome
Through working on this case study I once more took a deep dive into the work as a UX/UI designer. I went through the whole design process from start to finish and gained a lot of valuable insights.
Prep-work & Goal Setting
Workshop
The first step was interviewing stakeholders. That helped us understand their vision for the success of the project and their perspective on what the patients’ needs are.We also identified the goals and metrics for determining success. We chose technologies for the product and set up deadlines for each of the stages.
Research
The research was focussed on the struggles users faced in their day to day life related to their health and medical needs. I conducted both quantitative and qualitative research. We expect the age demographic to be 18–45 since the mindset of younger people are been influenced by their parents and older people may be more likely to be turned off by the trust issues and lack of technical knowledge. The mindset of our target user is someone who needs to buy medicals, get consulted by expert doctors and other medical aspects at one-stop.

Synthesis
In total I gathered 21 anonymous answers through my Typeform survey.
I used the affinity map to structure the data from the survey to get useful insights. With this method I was able to identify several trends in the data from the users. Color codes make it easy to follow answers from different questions and categories and tags support to classify results.
All answers were grouped two times which resulted in the seven groups whereas I found the bold printed ones the groups most users mentioned.

Insights From Research
The main takeaway from the research was that there is a mixed approach when purchasing medicines in UAE. A lot of people still prefer the walk in pharmacies as they feel seeing the drugs before purchasing them to ensures It's authenticity and they feel it’s cheaper compared to the online store. Many users think buying medicines from a local store is more convenient for them, but will be looking forward to buying online if the drugs aren't fake or expired and if the delivery is cheap, reliable and in time with insignificant delivery cost.
Competitor Analysis
To meet user's expectations i analyzed competitor's websites ( Medplus, supermarket.ng onehealth and drugstore)and discovered most frequently occurring problems they have
-
Long and unclear registration process
-
Checking out as a guest ( without registration )
-
Complicated interface
-
The gap between payment and delivery
-
Unavailability of some drugs
-
Absence of consultation feature
-
drugs are hard to find
-
Order tracking and cancellation
-
Refund policy

Wireframes
DESIGN
When you think you’re done…. you’re not.
Working with data collected during the research phase, I was able to set up user flows which we reviewed with the team. After that, It was time to give shape to our product. Until here, we had around 6 WEEKS of work (including research phase).
My steps were:
-
Create low-fidelity wireframes (on paper) the main objective was to create the product’s structure and define features. With the team, we had the opportunity to quickly plan and validate the value of of the design of a screen.
-
Create a style guide to keep the UI consistent (colors, fonts, structure, basic components, etc)
-
Create high-fidelity wireframing in this step I defined how a product will look at project completion.
-
Create the prototype, before to move on with the development process we decided to make a quick prototype to validate the usability and overall value of solution design.
High -Fidelity Wireframes
I used the lo fi prototype to test my design and to gain some first feedback from users. In preparation for the high fidelity prototype I had a close look at the actual design of Shefaa, made some adjustments regarding font size, shapes and color and set up a component library following the 4pt rule.
Setting up components made it fast and easy for me to create a hi fi prototype with a consistent product styling.

To list an item on Shefaa, all you need to do is add a item (this screen has shefaa tips to make them great!), and after fill in the Prescription details, and your “buy now” price.
Once you hit “Publish” your submission is reviewed and curated by the Shefaa team.
You profile
Every user on Shefaa has 2 types of profile. The public profile list some basic user information and all the product the user sells. That is great to share with friends and colleagues.
Also, each member has their own private profile, where the user can manage everything related to adverts, personal information, and user verification.

THE TOOLS
How I got here
I made the design and manage the requirement using different tools. But I would like to highlight Figma (Clap! Clap!).
Before this project, I used Sketch with a lot of plugins installed to have complete software working.
When I started to work with Shefaa , one of the requirements was to use Figma.
Figma is the most powerful design software that I knew. The main benefits is that is a live collaboration tool. It keeps teams on task and encourages full disclosure, essential when building a design system for a variety of disciplines. Figma is easy for anyone to use on any platform, and lets teams share their work and libraries quickly, add comments, export styles, and is very easy to make quick prototypes with it. I just love it!.
Other tools that help me to make this project live are: Photoshop (to edit images), Jira (tasks manager), and Google Hangouts Meet (for team communication)
